Hi! My name is Darby Scebold and I’m a designer and illustrator located in Dallas, TX.
I have a background in painting and fine art and graduated with a degree in graphic design in 2009. In 2015, after years as a graphic designer and art director, I decided to pursue illustration again, working for a craft company that allowed me to not only do graphic design, but product design and hand drawn illustrations. I was hooked. There was a fire lit in my heart to continue dabbling again in paint and color pencils.
After having my first baby, I decided to stay home with her and during nap time I would play with my water color sets. I took up an interest in digital illustration when I got my first little children’s book gig and the rest is history. I’m absolutely smitten with drawing on my iPad. All of the incredible brushes and textures have opened up a whole new world layered with color and depth.
Last year, I fulfilled a childhood dream when I completed my very first fully-illustrated children’s book called The Gingerbread Twins. It is now available for purchase on Amazon.
My style is whimsical and cute, and I love to communicate with color and expressive characters. I also enjoy pattern design! My passion for illustration has led me to become a freelance artist working on everything from gift wrap to napkins to children’s toy designs.
I am available for freelance work or art licensing.
Childhood inspiration: Lisa Frank, Mary Engelbreit
