Hi! I’m Darby Scebold, a designer and illustrator based in Dallas, TX.
I’ve loved painting and drawing since childhood, which led me to earn my degree in Graphic Design in 2009. After several years working as a graphic designer and art director, I rediscovered my passion for illustration while designing products and hand-drawn artwork for a craft company. That experience reignited my love for paint, pencils, and playful creativity.
When I became a mom, I found myself sketching during nap times—first with watercolor, then diving into digital illustration. I quickly fell in love with drawing on the iPad, exploring the endless textures and brushes that brought new depth and color to my work.
Since then, I’ve illustrated two books: The Gingerbread Twins, a fully illustrated children’s story, and Pencil Play, a whimsical how-to-draw book filled with cute characters, animals, and everyday objects. Both are available on Amazon.
My style is whimsical and colorful, with expressive characters that bring joy and warmth to the page. I also have a passion for pattern design, and my freelance work spans everything from children’s books to toys, gift wrap, and home décor.
I’m available for freelance illustration and art licensing projects.
Clients include: Michaels, Target, Hobby Lobby, Mattel, TJ Maxx, Walmart, and more.
Childhood inspirations: Lisa Frank & Mary Engelbreit.
